In attendance:
Chairman and Clerk of North Wraxall Parish Council, 1 resident of Upper Wraxall,4 residents of The Shoe, 5 residents of North Wraxall, 2 residents of Ford, no representatives from Mountain Bower.

Cllr Sue Miller, Chair of North Wraxall Parish Council, welcomed everyone and requested approval of the minutes of the previous years’ meeting. She than gave a summary of the 2025/26 Annual Parish Council report which can be read in full in the North Wraxall Parish Council’s Strategic Plan available on the Parish Council website:
https://northwraxall-pc.gov.uk/ , together with the Councils’ Financial Report. Both of these reports were on display at the meeting. Sue thanked all her fellow Councillors and the Clerk for their support during the year and announced the Parish Councillor vacancy for Co-option.

Attention was brought to the display of the model, drawings and information for the proposed restoration of the Upper Wraxall Grade II Listed Anglo-Saxon Plinth and installation of a new shaft and cross. The project team are working closely with Wiltshire Council Conservation and also, with Malmesbury Abbey who are eager to reinstate the St Aldhelm Pilgrim Way. The Cross marks one of the seven resting places of the body of England’s first Saint on its way back to Malmesbury from Doulting. St Aldhelm was Abbot of the Abbey for over 30 years and also, Bishop of Sherborne. It is intended that a Heritage Board will be erected near the Cross.

Concerns raised.
The Shoe: Following a number of serious accidents, Wiltshire Council has agreed to lower the speed limit to 40mph and to put in a pedestrian crossing. Speed Indicator devices have been purchased and will be set up once the new speed limit is in place. A defibrillator has been installed at The Shoe Garage.

Ford: Despite numerous attempts to get pedestrian safety prioritised, the white lining on the C151, incorrectly laid down in 2024 been revisited. Wiltshire has now agreed that signing for pedestrains can be place on the A420 so we will be pursuing that. The verges through the village are badly damaged from heavy transport and need to have kerbs. Wiltshire Council have agreed to place a Warning Sign for oncoming traffic on the C151 at the entrance of Mount Scylla. A 20mph request for Ford has been lodged with Wiltshire Council and a major Substantive Bid will be made this year to try to address the need for better pedestrian safety.
It was suggested that a weight limit should be placed on the C151 and that an Accident Hot Spot Warning signs be installed on the A420 Guideahall to Ford bends.

Pot holes throughout the parish are a major concern as are the condition of passing places on the Fosseway. It was explained that all the Parish Stewards have been diverted to pothole duties throughout the county and most of the passing places are not recognised as legal.

Other issues noted: Major number of break-ins and burglaries this past year. The Parish Council has contributed to the purchase of an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) Camera for the local police.

The verge at Lower North Wraxall has been dug up and the spring diverted Parish Council asked to check with Wiltshire Council that permission has been obtained.
